Kumarakom is one of the most popular tourism destinations located near Kottayam town, famous for its backwater tourism. Every year in the month of September BOAT RACE ( VALLAM KALI) is there in Kumarakom. We can spot elegant special boats like Kochu-odi vallam, Odi vallam, iruttukuthi vallam, Churulan vallam and Chundan vallam at Kumarakom.Pearl spot or " Karimeen " is the most freshwater fish in Kumarakom, By using this fish they are making " karimeen pollichathu " which is a fabulous food item in Kumarakom hotels & houseboats. Kumarakom is declared as a special tourism zone by the Kerala government. Kumarakom have a moderate climate throughout the year.
